Although the June 27 episode of SmackDown will air in its usual time at 8 p.m. ET on USA in the United States, it won’t be live. That’s because WWE is in Saudi Arabia for their Night of Champions premium live event tomorrow, and the go-home show will be the first episode of the blue brand ever filmed in the KSA!
It comes our way from Kingdom Arena in Riyadh — and airing live there (and everywhere SmackDown calls Netflix home) at 1 p.m. ET. That means spoilers will be available for those in the States who wish to partake.
Advertised for the show: Undisputed WWE champion John Cena will be on hand, addressing CM Punk ahead of tomorrow’s renewal of their in-ring rivalry. There will also be three title matches. Women’s champ Tiffany Stratton defends against Nia Jax in a Last Woman Standing affair, The Wyatt Sicks try to take the Tag belts from Street Profits, and Zelina Vega puts the Women’s United States championship on the line against Giulia.
We’ll update this post as results come in from Riyadh:
- The stars of today — and tomorrow’s — big matches are seen arriving at the arena as Michael Cole introduces them. No Joe Tess today, but Wade Barrett is in his regular SmackDown color commentary role.
- WHOA-OH! Cody Rhodes makes his way into the arena as see highlights of his win over Jey Uso to advance to tomorrow’s King of the Ring final.
- The sing-a-long continues until his Night of Champions opponent and former faction-leader Randy Orton arrives so the crowd can start singing about voices in heads and whatnot. The Viper starts to put over Rhodes/Uso from Raw and we seem to be having some technical difficulties.
