A woman is dead after a fire broke out Tuesday at an apartment building in Concord, New Hampshire.
Crews responded just before 6:30 p.m. to the fire on Manchester Street. Callers reported that a person was trapped on the building’s second floor.
The office of New Hampshire Fire Marshal Sean Toomey and the Concord Fire Department said a woman was found dead when the second floor was searched. An autopsy is scheduled to identify the woman and determine the cause and manner of her death.
The fire was under control by around 8 p.m., fire officials said.
In a Facebook post shortly after 8, Concord police said Manchester Street was closed between Airport Road and Old Suncook Road as they assisted the Concord Fire Department “with an active incident.”
Multiple people displaced by the fire are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.
