WEST MONROE, La. (KNOE) – A West Monroe man has been arrested after an Armed robbery in West Monroe at Century Next Bank.
According to the West Monroe Police Department on July 3, they were called to Century Next Bank in response to a robbery in progress.
When WMPD arrived, they say it was reported that Stanley Amon Vandivere approached the bank wearing a clown mask and a blue jumpsuit.
WMPD says when he was nearing the entrance, a customer was walking out. Vandivere then pulled out a pistol and pressed it on the customers chest. He then forced the customer back into the bank against his will.
When inside the bank, Vandivere aimed the pistol at employees and told them not to move. He then went up to a bank teller and demanded money. The teller gave Vandivere two $1,000 currency containers, according to WMPD.
Authorities say shortly after the robbery, Vandivere was found near the bank. When officers approached him, he began to run away, dropping a black backpack in the process. WMPD obtained a search warrant for the backpack.

Vandivere was then taken into custody and transported to the West Monroe Police Department Detective Office for further investigation. WMPD says he admitted to having a drug problem and that was the reason for committing the crime.
Vandivere was transported to the Ouachita Parish Corrections Center where he was booked on the following charges:
- Second Degree Kidnapping
- Armed robbery
- Resisting an Officer
