Officials are investigating after a person was killed and another hurt in a crash that caused traffic disruptions along West Chester Pike in Newtown Township on Monday morning.
As spotted by SkyForce10, a red vehicle could be seen resting against a telephone pole along the side of the 3400 block of West Chester Pike at about 8:20 a.m. on Monday.
A black vehicle sat damaged just nearby.
In an afternoon update from police, officials said the driver of one of the vehicles involved in this incident was killed in the crash and was subsequently pronounced at the scene.
The other driver, officials said, has been hospitalized but police did not immediately provide information on the individual’s condition.
Police believe “speeding was a factor” in this crash as a BMW involved was traveling east on West Chester Pike when it struck a vehicle that was making a left turn from West Chester Pike into Dunwoody Village.
Vehicles could be seen backed up for a considerable distance as drivers maneuvered around the crash.
Police officials have not provided further identifying information in this case, pending notification of the victim’s family.
