JEFFERSON COUNTY, Kan. (WIBW) – Two people were injured on Sunday, July 20, in a motorcycle crash on US-24 in Jefferson County.
According to the KHP crash log, a 2017 Harley-Davidson Motorcycle was westbound on US-24 just west of US-59 around 11:00 a.m. when it braked for a vehicle in front of it.
The driver, Dwight Mewes, 56, of Ogden, lost control of the motorcycle and slid into a 2006 Nissan Frontier traveling Eastbound on US-24.
Mewes was taken to Stormont Vail Hospital for serious injuries.
The driver of the Nissan, Jerry Steinbach, 75, of Topeka, had no apparent injuries, but the passenger, Sandra Brokmann, 64, of Topeka, was taken to Stormont Vail Hospital for serious injuries.
