Rochester, N.Y. — An 18-year-old was arrested Sunday morning following a domestic incident as police were investigating reports of shots fired.
Officers responded to the area of Murray and Masseth streets just before 7:30 a.m. after receiving reports of gunfire, but found no evidence of shots fired, according to police.
While continuing their search, officers heard additional gunshots on nearby Colvin Street.
They quickly set up a perimeter and detained a person walking away from the area where the shots were fired.
Officers discovered the individual was involved in a family dispute on Colvin Street, which they had to diffuse.
Captain Raden of the Rochester Police Department said, “Once the scene was secure, officers did locate evidence of gunfire but nothing appeared to have been struck and nobody appeared to have been injured.”
Although officers could not determine if the detained individual was involved in the gunfire, they made an arrest related to the domestic disturbance.
The surrounding area has since been reopened to traffic.
Police are asking anyone with information to call 911.
