Police say that just before 2:00 p.m., officers responded to reports of a fuel truck that had crashed on I-25 near Coal Avenue. When they arrived, officers found the truck blocking lanes of traffic and partially hanging off the bridge. New Mexico State Police assisted with the hazard investigation and discovered that the fuel tank the truck was carrying was empty.
No injuries were reported. Southbound I-25 remains closed as the investigation continues.
NMDOT is advising drivers to seek an alternate route and expect major delays. As of now, what led up to the crash is unknown.
