Sexual assault, domestic battery suspect arrested — out on $80K bond

ALBANY COUNTY, Wyo. —The Albany County Sheriff’s Office recently announced the arrest of a known felon in Albany County.

That’s according to a social media post from the ACSO, which states that in the early morning hours of Friday, July 11, 2025, the Albany County Sheriff’s Office — assisted by the U.S. Marshal’s Service and Federal Partners, Platte County Sheriff’s Office, the U.S. Forest Service, and the Cheyenne Police Department — served a high-profile felony warrant to a wanted felon in northern Albany County, near Hubbard’s Cupboard.

The suspect in question was Ricky Ayers, who was known to law enforcement as potentially armed and dangerous. Ayers was wanted on charges of First-Degree Sexual Assault, Aggravated Burglary, Felonious Restraint and Domestic Battery.

“The arrest was carried out safely and without incident to either the suspect or any members of law enforcement,” the release states. “Ayers was transported to the Albany County Detention Center and appeared for his arraignment in Circuit Court on July 14.”

According to the release, Ayers waived his preliminary hearing on July 21, and the case was bound over to District Court.

“He was originally held on a $80,000 bond, which he has since posted. He is no longer in custody at the Albany County Detention Center,” the post states.

The release notes that, in accordance with Wyoming State Statute 6-2-319, the name of the suspect could not be released until formal charges were filed in District Court. The statute prohibits releasing the names of the accused or the victims in certain sexual offense cases prior to that that point.

“Prior to the filing of an information or indictment in district court charging a violation of an offense under this article, neither the names of the alleged actor or the victim of the charged offense nor any other information reasonably likely to disclose the identities of the parties shall be released or negligently allowed to be released to the public by any public employee,” the statute states.

All charges are accusations, and all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
