Sadie Robertson & Husband Survive Scary Car Robbery During Family Trip

What was supposed to be a peaceful getaway took a distressing turn. Before welcoming a new baby, the family turned it into a chaotic and emotional week for Sadie Robertson.

On the July 21 episode of her WHOA That’s Good podcast, the former DWTS alum opened up about a string of unsettling events during a trip to Atlanta, Georgia, with husband Christian Huff and their two daughters, Honey and Haven.

“Something happened every day that put us [in] panic mode, and it was wild,” she recalled.

A Final Getaway Before Baby No. 3

Robertson said the goal was to soak up quality time as a family of four before their next baby arrives. Alongside vacation plans, the family also had an event scheduled during the trip. But things quickly took a turn.

As they were boarding their flight, little Haven got a nosebleed. Then, after landing in Atlanta and rushing to a late dinner, the stress levels were already high—until they discovered something even worse.

“When we go to get in our cars, that’s when we realize that our cars, the windows were completely busted in and that people had stolen our backpacks,” Robertson said.

The stolen bags included all of their passports, Huff’s longtime Bible, and every one of his credit cards.

“That’s so low,” she said. “You know you’re stealing from a family with kids,” pointing out that car seats and a diaper bag were clearly visible.

The Emotional Toll on Their Daughters

What hurt the most, Robertson admitted, was imagining the thieves looking at the girls’ passports.

“I just hate to think about them seeing Honey and Haven’s little faces on that passport. It just makes me so mad,” she said. The drive to their scheduled event, an hour away, was tough. “The girls are scared. I mean, Honey’s very scared because she’s like, bad guys broke our windows and took daddy’s stuff,” she recalled.

Finding Strength Through Faith

Despite the fear and frustration, Robertson saw it as an opportunity to lean on her faith and demonstrate strength for her daughters. “It was an opportunity to show her our faith and what we believe about God,” she said, adding that if her daughters hadn’t been there, she might have been even more afraid.

Road Trip to Florida & a Much-Needed Reset

The missing passports forced the family to abandon their original flight plans and instead drive through the night to Huff’s parents’ home in Florida.

Even then, the trip remained challenging. Both daughters fell ill, and sleepless nights piled up. However, Robertson shared that a beach visit later in the week helped her emotionally and spiritually reset.

“The time at the beach gave me a chance to reset and lean heavily on my faith to move forward again,” she said.
