ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA — A Montgomery County man has been charged in a team effort by four area police departments for the skateboarding Armed robbery of a gas station in late May.
On Wednesday, Abington Detectives coordinated with the Upper Moreland, Philadelphia, and Lower Southampton Police Departments to take Michael Gordon, 32, of Hatboro, into custody on the 300 block of South Warminster Road in Upper Moreland Township.
Abington Police Officers responded at 7:32 p.m. on May 25 to a reported Armed robbery at the Lukoil Gas Station located at 1945 Old York Road.
Police said a man entered the gas station while skating on rollerblades and lifted his shirt to show that he was armed with a handgun and a knife.
He demanded the employee at that location provide him with money from the cash register and also threatened to shoot the employee in the chest if he did not cooperate. After the man received the cash, he skated out of the store and fled from the area, police said.
Abington detectives determined that Gordon was also responsible for three similar robberies that occurred in recent months in Philadelphia and Feasterville.
Gordon was transported to the Abington Police Headquarters, where he was charged with multiple offenses, including Robbery (F1), Aggravated Assault (F1), Theft by Unlawful Taking (M1), Possession of an Instrument of crime (M1), and Reckless Endangerment (M2), among other charges.
He was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge James P. Gallagher and bail was set at $99,000 cash. Gordon was sent to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility.
