ROCK ISLAND CO., Ill. (KWQC) – A Rock Island man could spend decades behind bars for the 2022 shooting-death of a 17-year-old boy.
Davion Woods-Jackson, 25, of Rock Island was found guilty of first-degree murder and armed robbery after a seven day jury trial, according to a media release from Rock Island County State’s Attorney Dora Villarreal. Woods-Jackson’s convictions carry mandatory minimum sentences of 45 years in the Department of Corrections.
On September 18, 2022, Woods-Jackson shot and killed Angel Lopez Jr. in the alley of 827 14th 1/2 Street, the charges allege.
A sentencing date has not yet been set.
The Honorable Judge Frank Fuhr presided over the trial and Rock Island County Assistant State’s Attorney Jennifer Gardner prosecuted for the state.
In 2022, Corion Thomas, 17, at the time was also charged with first-degree murder.
