MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – A Rock County man accused of killing his 8-year-old relative was found not competent to stand trial during a competency hearing on Tuesday.
This marks the second competency hearing for Dayveon Lathrop after his trial was put on pause in June when his attorney requested another competency exam.

Lathrop’s trial was originally scheduled to begin on July 28.
Lathrop is accused of first-degree intentional homicide and hiding a corpse.
The 8-year-old girl’s body was found March 10, 2024, in a plastic tote in the laundry room. A medical examiner determined she was stabbed to death.
Authorities arrested Lathrop in March 2024 and he plead not guilty that June.
