Two Men Charged for Machete Robbery in Rochester
43-year-old Deangelo Martez Rucker and 51-year-old Albert Lucky Williams are each charged with one count of simple robbery.
The criminal complaints say Rochester police responded to the report of an assault at a business on 4th St. Southeast. Officers found the victim, who stated he had been attacked by two unknown males.
He told police the men were speaking to a friend of his, who was trying to get property back, when they approached him, claimed the victim owed them money.
One of the men struck the victim in the head and the two ran off with a pair of machetes that belonged to the victim, the complaints say.
A witness told officers they saw the suspects running towards the Mayo Civic Center with the machetes. Officers, armed with a description of the suspects, found Rucker on the trail underneath the 3rd Ave. Southeast bridge.
He denied involvement in the robbery. Investigators found the alleged robbery was captured on a surveillance camera and used the footage to identify Rucker and Williams as the suspects, court documents say.
Officers took Rucker into custody on Saturday while he was riding a bike in the area of the reported robbery. Williams was also arrested Saturday.
Court documents say Williams confessed to the robbery and said he and Rucker discarded the machetes in a grassy area near the scene of the robbery.
