Robbery Reported in Walmart Parking Lot; Henry County Sheriff’s Office Seeks Suspects

MARTINSVILLE, Va. (BTW21) — The Henry County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an armed robbery that took place Monday evening in the parking lot of Walmart at 976 Commonwealth Boulevard.

According to investigators, deputies were dispatched at approximately 6:30 p.m. on June 30 after a caller reported that her juvenile son and two friends had been robbed while walking toward the store.

The youths told deputies that a blue‑colored vehicle pulled alongside them. Several young males — faces partially concealed — brandished handguns and demanded their belongings.

The suspects stole two bookbags containing an iPhone 13, clothing, phone chargers, and cologne, then fled at high speed toward Virginia Avenue.

Detectives have collected video from nearby businesses. The footage shows the blue vehicle approaching the juveniles, a brief exchange, and the car accelerating away moments later.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Henry County Sheriff’s Office at (276) 638‑8751 or Crimestoppers at (276) 632‑7463 (63‑CRIME).

Tips to Crimestoppers remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $2,500, depending on the value of the information provided.

Authorities ask local businesses and residents in the surrounding area to review their security cameras for any additional footage of the blue vehicle or suspects around the time of the incident.
