One person was arrested Tuesday night after a fire inside the Target store in Capitola.
Central Fire Protection District Assistant Chief Patrick Winters said that the call came at about 8:30pm for a fire on a shelf inside the store at 1825 41st Ave.
Firefighters found the interior filled with smoke, and after evacuating employees and customers put out the fire with an extinguisher. Those efforts were helped by the interior sprinklers.
No injuries were reported.
“At this point it’s just been about smoke removal and helping to mitigate property damage from the sprinkler activation,” Winters said.
Police arrested one suspect, Winters said, but did not give further details.

Capitola Police at the scene declined to comment, saying the department will issue a press release Wednesday morning.
