Police started chasing Armed robbery suspect Gerald Barone and shot him when he reportedly reached for his backpack.
CARLSBAD, N.M. — New Mexico State Police is investigating after Carlsbad Police shot and wounded a person they identified as an Armed robbery suspect.
According to NMSP, Carlsbad Police responded to a report of an Armed robbery at a gas station. They reportedly found a man matching the suspect’s description and started chasing him. That man, Gerald Barone, reportedly reached for his backpack and police shot him.
Officers said they found a gun in Barone’s backpack. He’s now in the hospital in unknown condition. Once released, he will face charges.
