The ribbon-cutting of the new Harbor Bridge could come before the end of the month, two Texas legislators told 3NEWS on Monday.
State Rep. Denise Villalobos said the rescheduled ceremonial opening of the new bridge connecting Corpus Christi and North Beach is set for 10 a.m. June 28.
State Rep. Todd Hunter also confirmed the news to 3NEWS on Monday evening.
State Sen. Adam Hinojosa had told 3NEWS he anticipated the opening happening this summer during a stop in Corpus Christi on Thursday.
The event previously was scheduled to happen May 10, but was postponed to finish lighting, striping, and other last-minute touches to the bridge, officials said.
3NEWS has been running daily updates about traffic-flow changes and progress reports in anticipation of the new date being announced.
