NASSAU COUNTY, Fla. – At least two Nassau County Sheriff’s Office deputies were arrested Thursday and accused of official misconduct, county jail records showed.
One of the deputies, Sgt. Brian Blackwell, 39, also faces a theft charge along with two counts of official misconduct and is accused of stealing between $750 and $5,000, records showed.
Deputy Henry Holmberg, 37, faces just two counts of official misconduct.
All of the charges are felonies.
Both of the men were listed without mugshots on Thursday on the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office inmate page but were later removed for unknown reasons.
Holmberg of Fernandina Beach was named Patrol Deputy of the Year in 2022, according to the sheriff’s office website.
Both of the sheriff’s office employees were among six deputies who were on paid leave last month amid an unknown investigation. It was not immediately clear if any of the other four employees were also arrested.
The sheriff’s office has yet to release details about their arrests, but told News4JAX it plans to issue a statement at some point Thursday afternoon.
A spokesperson confirmed the statement will relate to the arrest of employees who were under investigation.
This is a developing story.
