A naked man accused of attempted robbery
on Tuesday has been arrested.
Raleigh police were called to
Atlantic Avenue for a suspicious person. Police said the call was late updated
to an attempted robbery call after two people reported he attempted to rob
them.
When police arrived on the scene,
officers said they found a man and a woman that reported a naked man approached
them with a wooden post.
The man told police he had just
gotten out of his car and locked it when the suspect approached him demanding
he drop everything he was carrying and give him access to the car.
After complying with the suspect,
the man said the suspect assaulted him with the wooden post, police said.
According to police, the suspect
also approached a woman eating lunch in her car. She told them the suspect hit
her in the arm with the wooden post before pulling her out of the car and
attempting to drive away.
The suspect was unable to shift
the car out of park; he fled from the scene and hid in a nearby storage room
behind 4000 Atlantic Avenue.
Police said the suspect was later
captured and taken into custody. Police have not released the name of the suspect or the two people reported to be assaulted. Charges are pending.
