A 50-year-old Reading man was arrested on indecent exposure and other charges after Shenandoah police found him passed out naked in a car.
Monzel Marcellus Collins was charged Friday after police said he exposed himself in front of a woman and her child in public.
Police said they were dispatched to the 100 block of West Cherry Street for a report of a naked male chasing people in the area. They were later notified that the man had gotten into a black Nissan.
Police approached the reported vehicle and saw a nude man, later identified as Collins, asleep in the driver’s seat.
Police took Collins into custody and then contacted the woman who had reported the incident.
The caller said her friend had told her a naked man was outside. The caller went outside and confronted Collins, who told her, “You want some of these goods?” while motioning toward his genitals. The woman said no, and Collins walked back to his car.
Police said the caller’s 8-year-old child was standing in the doorway and witnessed the incident.
Collins faces a felony charge of corruption of minors and misdemeanor charges of indecent exposure, disorderly conduct and open lewdness.
He was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Anthony J. Kilker and jailed in Schuylkill County Prison, unable to post $25,000 bail.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. July 10, before Kilker.
