THORNTON, Colo. (KKTV) – A motor vehicle theft suspect was arrested early Wednesday morning on I-25, according to the Colorado State Patrol (CSP).
Troopers responded at 3:47 a.m. to the area of East 84th Avenue and Grant Street, following a Thornton Police Officer requesting assistance with a suspected stolen Ram pickup truck.
The trooper reportedly tried to make contact with the truck and then unsuccessfully attempted a “Grapple.” The Ram then turned onto southbound I-25 from 84th Avenue, where CSP says the Trooper was able to grapple successfully.
The CSP cruiser was then pulled into the jersey barrier on the left side of the southbound I-25 shoulder, disabling the patrol vehicle. The trooper was not injured.
CSP says the suspect then ran from the scene and was apprehended by Thornton Police Officers. CSP did not release the suspect’s identity.
All lanes of southbound I-25 were closed for the initial investigation, but were reopened by 5:20 a.m.
This investigation is ongoing.
