Moorhead man threatened Mass Shooting at Fargo Essentia

FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) – Court documents obtained by Valley News Live have shined a new light on the incident that sent Essentia’s Fargo Campus on 32nd Avenue into an hours-long lockdown on July 16.

According to the incident report, Essentia security told police that they had received a phone call threatening a mass shooting at their location. That led to the lockdown procedure being put into place for the rest of the morning.

A switchboard operator at Essentia cross-referenced the phone number used to make the threat with previous patient records, which determined that the phone number belonged to Jerome Lampley.

Moorhead police located Lampley and took him into custody. During the arrest they found two cell phones on Lampley. They called the number that was used to make the threatening call, and one of the phones he had on him began to ring.

On the way to jail, Lampley denied making the call or threatening anyone. Police played the recording for Lampley, who stated that the voice did sound like him, but wasn’t him.

After initially being taken to Clay County Jail, Lampley is now in Cass County and will be arraigned on the afternoon of July 25.
