Police busted four suspects who allegedly robbed a jewelry store at gunpoint on Thursday, according to police who were searching for a fifth suspect.
North Andover cops responded to 911 calls for an Armed robbery with guns at Milos Joyeria, located at 563 Chickering Road, at around 10:27 a.m.
Five male suspects wearing masks and carrying firearms allegedly robbed the store, police said.
Then a North Andover police officer working a detail noticed a vehicle that fit the description of the getaway car, and alerted another officer to check that vehicle.
The officer followed the vehicle into a parking lot, where the suspects got out of the vehicle. The suspects then allegedly sped away in another getaway car that had apparently been staged in the back of the parking lot.
Police pursued the vehicle on Route 125 and onto Sutton Street, where it merged onto 495.
The vehicle then exited onto Marston Street before crashing. The suspects then fled into the woods.
Several agencies — North Andover Police, Lawrence Police, Methuen Police, Mass State Police, Essex County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI — then established a perimeter.
While conducting the search, four of the suspects were taken into custody along the wood line on Marston Street.
“Chief Gray and the NAPD extend their sincere gratitude to the Lawrence Police Department, Essex County Sheriff’s Department, Massachusetts State Police, Methuen Police Department, and the Federal Bureau of Investigations for their invaluable support in successfully searching for and apprehension of four of the five suspects involved in the robbery incident at Milos Joyeria,” North Andover Police posted.
“We are confident that there is currently no public safety concern,” the department added. “The state police and NAPD detectives are diligently pursuing the investigation and are actively searching for the individuals not found in the initial search connected to this incident.”
