A 23-year-old Massachusetts man is being accused by police of setting a fire to a house that killed a cat earlier this month.
Hunter Barrett was arrested and charged with arson of a dwelling. He is expected to be arraigned in Berkshire District Court on Wednesday.
The fire started in the early morning hours at a Pittsfield house on July 22. At 3:10 a.m., first responders arrived at the two family residence on Fourth Street and everyone inside the building was able to escape.
A cat, however, died in the fire.
The investigation is ongoing, officials said Wednesday.
