GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla. (WCTV) – A man is now in state prison for driving drunk in Gadsden County in 2023, causing a deadly wrong-way crash, according to court records.
In June, Jaime Rubio pleaded no contest to charges of manslaughter by DUI and vehicular homicide in connection to the deadly crash, court documents show.

Rubio’s no-contest plea comes after he was accused of driving on the wrong side of Highway 90 at Raymond Road in Gadsden County in February 2023. As a result, he collided head-on with a sedan that was traveling in the correct lane, according to the court papers.

The driver of the sedan died at the scene.
Rubio, who was 18 years old at the time of the accident, and his passenger were seriously injured.
Rubio is now serving a seven-year prison sentence, per the court records. He’ll also have 10 years of probation and can never have a driver’s license in Florida again.
