The victim in a fatal shooting at The Shops at RedBird had a restraining order against the woman accused of shooting him, according to a Dallas police arrest warrant affidavit.

Rashonda Lowe, 43, was arrested after the shooting at a mall in the Red Bird neighborhood of Dallas. Officers first responded at about 3:50 p.m. Tuesday to the 3600 block of West Camp Wisdom Road, where police found Jaime Alejandro Rokkett, 53, shot inside a store.

Rokkett was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, Rokkett was the owner of Cookies N Smoothies, located inside the mall. Witnesses told police they observed Rokkett and a woman arguing at the store before the woman pulled out a gun, shot Rokkett and fled the scene in a white SUV.

Security footage from the mall showed Rokkett and the woman talking for about an hour before the shooting, the affidavit said. The footage showed the woman shoot Rokkett multiple times before jumping over the counter to fire “several more times at close range” and leaving the gun at the scene.

The woman’s white SUV was picked up by license plate readers, and the car was registered to Lowe, the affidavit said.

Police spoke with Rokkett’s wife, whom police did not name, and learned a woman had been harassing him and that a restraining order was active against her. Rokkett’s wife identified the woman as Lowe, the affidavit said.

Lowe later turned herself in to Arlington police and told police the shooting was a “domestic situation with her ex.” She indicated to police she had shot someone and left the gun at the scene.

Lowe later declined an interview at Dallas police headquarters, and asked for her attorney after being read her Miranda rights.

Lowe was booked into the Dallas County jail late Tuesday, where she remained Wednesday. She faces a charge of murder. As of late Wednesday morning, her bail had not been set.
