COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – The Lee County Sheriff’s office announced a man in connection with a fatal shooting Friday night has been arrested in North Carolina.
53-year-old Jamie Allen was arrested Sunday in Wake County after the vehicle he carjacked was found in the adjacent Cumberland County on Saturday.
This comes after Lee County deputies responded to a report of a shooting on Mikado Road around 9:45 p.m. Friday in the Mayesville Area of Lee County.
After arriving, deputies found the victim, 60-year-old Carol Wilson Baker, who was pronounced dead on the scene with an injury from a gunshot wound.
Investigators said they learned that Baker and Allen were in a relationship. According to authorities, the suspect shot the Baker while she was driving on Mikado Road.
Deputies said Allen then carjacked another vehicle in the area and fled the scene.
Allen is being held in Wake County for Murder, Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime, and Carjacking.
Allen will be transported back to Lee County, according to law enforcement. Deputies said they are working with Wake County officials in the extradition process.
