I-75 Southbound Closed Due to Cleveland Crash

UPDATE: A 22-year-old Cleveland woman has been charged with vehicular homicide and driving under the influence in the Bradley County crash on I-75 that cost the life of her two children.

A Tennessee Dept. of Safety supplemental report says the vehicle of Emily Shaver had a tire blow out while traveling around 10:45am on Monday.

Her vehicle collided head on with another vehicle, sending the first vehicle into the opposite direction of travel, causing another vehicle collision.

Shaver was ejected from the vehicle, while her son was found dead inside the vehicle. Shaver’s 8-month-old daughter was found in critical condition and taken to the hospital.

On Wednesday, the infant’s condition worsened and the second child was pronounced dead in the hospital.

Investigators located a bag of cannabis in the vehicle labeled 24.7% THC. Shaver admitted to investigators that she had smoked marijuana previously that day, before the crash.

Investigators also discovered that the child found deceased in the car was not properly restrained in a car seat at the time of the crash.

Shaver faces the following charges:

  • DUI – 1st offense
  • Vehicular homicide x2
  • Reckless endangerment
  • Simple possession
  • Child restraint
