On Tuesday (July 8) Bowling Green Police arrested a Gibsonburg man for the alleged assault and strangulation of a woman in the 900 block of Klotz Road on June 26.
Joseph Basden II, 27, was taken to Wood County Jail.
According to the police report, Basden and the woman argued the evening of June 26, and he tried to leave the apartment. The woman told police she tried multiple times to stop him from leaving.
The report stated that Basden repeatedly pushed the woman to the floor – one time causing her head to hit a desk chair. Basden reportedly told police he removed her from blocking the door several times. He also reportedly said he covered her mouth in an attempt to keep her quiet, and admitted to squeezing her face too aggressively. He also said he struck her in the arm, which was sprained.
The woman, who was cited for unlawful restraint, was given an Ohio Victims’ Rights Pamphlet by police.
