FWPD look to identify the victim in fatal Saturday morning shooting

UPDATE (July 21, 2025):

The Fort Wayne Police Department says that officers are continuing to investigate a fatal shooting early Saturday. It happened at the Woodbridge Apartments off St. Joe Center Road.

Police say they are trying to identify the victim who was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Fort Wayne Police Department released the following on Monday morning:

On Saturday, July 19, 2025, at approximately 3:03 a.m., officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a report of a shooting at 1800 River Run Trail, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Upon arrival, officers located a male victim suffering from apparent gunshot wound(s).

The victim, who was pronounced deceased at the scene, is described as a Black male, approximately 15 to 20 years old, 5’11” tall, weighing around 170 pounds, with a chipped front tooth.

The identity of the victim remains unknown at this time. We are asking anyone who may have information related to this incident or the identity of the victim to contact the Fort Wayne Police Department Homicide Division at (260) 427-1201 or Crime Stoppers at (260) 436-STOP (7867), or the P3 app.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) is investigating a deadly Saturday morning shooting.

Officers initially responded to reports of shots fired in the 1800 block of River Run Trail in the Woodbridge Apartments complex around 3 a.m. The FWPD says that officers found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Police ask you to call CrimeStoppers or the FWPD if you have any information.

The FWPD released the following:

Officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 1800 block of River Run Trail just after 3 am to calls of hearing shots fired. Officers located a male suffering for several gunshot wounds. Medics transported the male to a local hospital is critical condition and was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The name and age of the victim are unknown currently.

Detectives are searching the area for witnesses, evidence, and camera footage. Anyone with information is asked to call the Fort Wayne Police Department at 260-427-1222, Crime Stoppers at 260-436-7867, or use the anonymous P3 Tips App.

This shooting is being investigated by the FWPD Homicide Team, Air Support, Crime Scene, Allen County Coroner’s Office, and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.
