Former Alabama basketball player Darius Miles’ murder trial set for December 1

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The capital murder trial for former Alabama basketball player Darius Miles is scheduled to begin on December 1.

Miles is accused of the 2023 shooting death of Jamea Harris near the University of Alabama campus.

His trial comes following the guilty verdict of co-defendant Michael Lynn Davis in May 2025, who was also convicted in the shooting death of Harris.

Miles has pleaded not guilty, claiming self-defense. However, a judge previously denied his request to dismiss the case. Miles remains in custody as he awaits trial.
