HARTSELLE, Ala. (WAFF) – The family of a Hartselle woman killed in her own home is speaking out, as they grieve and remember the impact their loved one left.
Nancy Deanne Sandlin Fox, 59, was shot and killed Thursday in her Hartselle home. Hartselle police responded to Fox’s house Thursday morning after she called them about an ongoing argument, and they heard gunshots follow.
Police found Fox dead at the scene and Wyatt Young, 25, unarmed in her front yard.
Young was arrested and charged with capital murder, and he’s now in the Morgan County Jail without bond.
Fox’s family says this is a very difficult time as they grieve a woman who they and others throughout Morgan County say was incredibly loving and giving and treated everyone she met like they were a part of her family.
Fox’s daughter, Katlyn McNutt, says Young and her mother knew each other before yesterday. Young previously worked in her shop, Amethyst Sage.
McNutt says her mother was the most kind, caring, and trusting person she knew.
One Hartselle resident says Fox always had an open ear and hug for anyone that needed it.
Fox didn’t just have a big impact on her community. She was known all the way in Decatur. One business owner, Julie McMahon, told WAFF 48:
McMahon also says she is truly grateful to have known her. She is planning a celebration of life event for Fox at her shop, Practical Magick, in the near future.
The family asks everyone to keep them in their prayers during this difficult time. The funeral is set for this upcoming Sunday.
