Evansville man sentenced for murder of pregnant woman


EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – An Evansville man has been sentenced for the murder of a pregnant woman.

Police say 34-year old Scott Terry was found guilty in the shooting of Candilyn Sexton in March of 2022.

Terry was sentenced to serve 55 years with 105 years consecutively.

Sexton was reportedly in her third trimester when she was killed in a home on Indiana Street, leaving behind four other small children.

Investigators say Terry recorded the altercation on Sexton’s cell phone and called 911 afterward, telling dispatch Sexton needed medical help.

Several character witnesses have testified, including Terry’s mom and aunt.
