FOLEY, Ala. (WALA) – Foley Police said a woman was arrested today, accused of leaving a man’s body in her apartment until it decomposed.

Police said Valerie Bonner is charged with corpse abuse.
The court documents said after the man died, Bonner threw his wallet and cell phone into a dumpster, so he couldn’t be identified.
It all started when Foley police responded to a welfare check yesterday at the Alison Pointe Apartments in Foley.
When officers discovered the man’s body inside Bonner’s apartment, forensics had to be used to figure out who he was.
Court records show Bonner knowingly let the man’s body decompose to the point where it was impossible to identify.
Investigators said she never notified police about the man’s death and allowed the body to remain in her apartment without ever reporting it.
It’s unclear how long his body had been there.
Investigators said an autopsy is scheduled to determine the official cause of death.
Police said they don’t suspect foul play at this time.
According to court documents, the man has been identified.
