CRISP COUNTY, Ga. — A man crashed his car during a police chase with the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office Tuesday morning after authorities attempted to serve an arrest warrant, according to a press release from the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office. They say that deputies attempted to arrest Jimmy Graham at around 8:45 a.m. — but Graham refused to cooperate. Instead, Graham jumped in a Ford Explorer and started a police chase through the streets of Cordele, the sheriff’s office said.
They say Graham fled west on 24th Avenue before heading east on 16th Avenue. Eventually, Graham would attempt to flee on the I-75 north, but they say the Georgia State Patrol conducted a PIT maneuver, causing Graham to crash.
A PIT maneuver is a strategic move where a law enforcement officer hits a fleeing vehicle with their car, causing the fleeing driver to spin out.
According to photos shared by the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office, Graham’s car would come to a rest in a grassy area on the side of I-75.
They say that Graham was then arrested. The Crisp County Sheriff’s Office says no injuries were reported and no other vehicles were involved in the crash.
They say that the Cordele Police Department, the Georgia State Patrol and the Dooly County Sheriff’s Office were all involved in the chase.
