HOUSTON — I-45 Gulf Freeway southbound is closed at Bay Area Boulevard because of a crash Wednesday afternoon. The City of Webster said a child was killed and multiple people were taken to the hospital.
The City of Webster posted on social media that a Chevy car “lost control” and struck a concrete barrier. The names of the victims weren’t shared.
Two Life Flight helicopters were seen landing on the freeway and then taking off.
Webster police were working to investigate the crash.
It wasn’t known how many people were hurt. The crash happened right next to exit 25 for NASA Parkway.
The City of Webster said the freeway closure would be “prolonged.” The traffic map reported delays of 19 minutes.
