Bristol cancels July 4th fireworks, says parade is still on

BRISTOL, R.I. (WLNE) — Bristol Town Administrator Steven Contente said that the town’s firework show on Thursday was cancelled due to a severe weather squall.

Contente said that the fireworks need to be set off Thursday night for safety reasons.

Crews were working to clear roads and repair downed power lines before the parade on July 4.

He added that Rhode Island Energy was working to restore power to residents.
