Armed serial robber in D-FW sentenced to 60 years in federal prison

An armed serial robber who robbed five cash store businesses in the Dallas-Fort Worth area was sentenced to 60 years in federal prison on Friday, according to a news release by the U.S. Department of Justice.

The release said Charles Brownlee robbed businesses in Grand Prairie, Fort Worth, Euless, Hurst and Grapevine at gunpoint, according to evidence presented at a trial in May of last year.

Brownlee, 37, covered his face with a medical mask and wore different baseball caps and outfits to conceal his identity while committing the crime, the release said. He was convicted by a jury in March and was sentenced to 720 months in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Reed O’Connor.

He was also ordered to pay about $21,000 in restitution, according to the release.

“The lengthy sentence imposed justly puts this serial felon behind bars for a very long time and serves as a message to others that we will vigorously prosecute those who jeopardize our communities’ safety,” said Nancy E. Larson, acting U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas.

Several agencies including the FBI’s Dallas Field Office, Fort Worth Resident Agency, police departments in Grand Prairie, Fort Worth, Euless, Hurst and Grapevine were involved in the investigation, the release said.
