Orange — The unsolved murder of a precious little girl 23 years ago is still drawing the attention of investigators from Orange to Austin.
Four-year-old Dannarriah Finley disappeared from her home in Orange during the overnight hours of July 4, 2002.
She was last seen sleeping in a bedroom at her mother’s house with her siblings and cousins.
On July 8, her mostly nude and decomposed body, wrapped in a sheet, was found about 27 miles away near a dredge pipeline ditch off State Highway 82 on Pleasure Island. Dannarriah had been sexually assaulted and strangled.
Dannarriah was only weeks away from her fifth birthday and there was an outpouring of support for her family.
Law enforcement officers have worked the case since then, sending off DNA evidence and continuing to look for clues.
They’ve never stopped working the case, one of the most high-profile murder investigations in Southeast Texas.
It’s also the focus of a Texas Rangers cold case investigation.
The state is offering a reward of at least $3,000 and Crime Stoppers of Southeast Texas is offering a reward of $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
