Body retrieved from Ohio River

MEIGS COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) – A body was found Thursday night in the Ohio River in the Racine area, Meigs County Sheriff Scott Fitch said.

A fisherman made the grim discovery around 7 p.m. near the Racine boat ramp – about 25 to 30 feet offshore.

The New Haven (W.Va.) Fire Department launched their boat to retrieve the body.

Sheriff Fitch said a tattoo on the body is a tentative match for one on a man recently reported missing by his family.

However, the state Medical Examiner’s Office will make the final call on the person’s identity.

Keep checking the WSAZ app for the latest.
