Shooting at Leander park leaves one dead, suspect at large


A deadly shooting in Leander left one man dead and a suspect on the run, police said.

Officers from the Leander Police Department responded to a reported shooting at around 7:15 p.m. in the 600 block of Bagdad Road, in the parking lot of Robin Bledsoe Park.

According to police, an altercation between two groups led to multiple shots being fired. The victim, an adult male, was transported to the hospital by EMS, where he later died.

Authorities are withholding the victim’s identity until his family is notified.

The suspect fled the scene and remains at large.

Police have stated that this appears to be an isolated incident stemming from a disturbance, and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
