AUBURN, N.Y. — A block party in Auburn turned deadly on July 26, 2025, when gunfire erupted on Chapman Avenue, leaving one man dead and another in police custody. Officers from the Auburn Police Department were in the vicinity of Oak Creek Town Homes around 10:00 p.m. when they heard multiple gunshots. Upon arrival at the scene, they encountered a man with a handgun, who complied with police orders to drop the weapon. He was then arrested.
The suspect, identified as Davon M. Dixon, 35, was taken into custody and charged with second-degree murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. The victim, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds, was transported to Auburn Community Hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Authorities have not released the victim’s identity, citing respect for the family and pending notifications.
