Motorcyclist killed in crash in Ontario County


A 70-year-old man died Saturday afternoon after losing control of his motorcycle in Naples, according to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.

Randy P. Wheaton, of Honeoye, was traveling northwest on County Road 36 around 3:14 p.m. when he crashed near 8357 County Road 36. Investigators said he was thrown from the motorcycle and died at the scene.

The incident prompted a temporary closure of the roadway as officials reconstructed the crash. Deputies said the cause of the crash remains under investigation.

The New York State Police, Naples Fire, and EMS assisted at the scene.
