Mesquite police are urging the public to come forward if they have any information about a deadly shooting that claimed the life of a 16-year-old and injured a 15-year-old.
Mesquite PD said they responded to a shooting at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday, July 24, in the 2100 block of Pecan Creek Drive.
Officers said they found a 15-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound, and they were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Then, they located a 16-year-old juvenile male deceased nearby. The Dallas County Medical Examiner identified the victim as 16-year-old Brandon Lil Wayne McGhee.
Neighbors tell NBC 5 officers surrounded the street and ordered everyone inside one home to come out.
Mesquite Police said that through the investigation, they identified a 15-year-old male suspect and arrested him at about 10 a.m. Saturday. The juvenile has been charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
