Two people arrested after traffic stop leads to foot pursuit

MAPLETON, N.D. (Valley News Live) – Two people were arrested after a traffic stop that lead to a foot pursuit on Saturday.

According to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, just before 11:30 a.m., the deputies stopped a vehicle with expired registration on County Road 10 and Meridian Road in Mapleton.

After locating narcotics, the male and female occupants of the vehicle were removed so that deputies could search the vehicle. As deputies were attempting to detain the occupants, the male, later identified as 20-year-old Jabez Beyan, ran from the scene, into a residential neighborhood.

Additional Cass County deputies and North Dakota Highway Patrol troopers set up a perimeter. Due to increased law enforcement presence, a Cass-Clay Alert was sent to Mapleton residents.

Beyan was arrested a few blocks from the location of the traffic stop. Both Beyan and the female passenger, 18-year-old Zannika Margaret Wobbema, were arrested and transported to the Cass County Jail.
