CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WTVD) — Six people are dead and one person was injured after a crash on I-489 in Charlotte on Saturday.
According to ABC11 affiliate WSOC, the crash happened on Interstate 485 Outer Loop at Mile Marker 9 at around 11:50 a.m.
A portion of the interstate was closed as emergency crews worked to clear the scene, the North Carolina Department of Transportation said.
Authorities said six people were pronounced dead at the scene, and one person was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
“Our thoughts are with everyone impacted by this horrific incident,” MEDIC said.
No other details have been released.
