LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Lincoln Transportation and Utilities said Thursday that the traffic lights at 16th Street and Old Cheney Road have been repaired following damage from a recent crash.
The temporary three-way stop has been removed, and normal traffic light operations have resumed.
Lincoln Police and Lincoln Fire and Rescue responded to a crash at South 16th Street and Old Cheney Road around 4:40 p.m. on Tuesday.
According to a crash report, an eastbound driver made a northbound turn onto South 16th Street. The driver told police she had a green light, but she drove in front of an oncoming vehicle. The crash sent the oncoming van into a pole.
The second collision knocked down the street lights attached to the pole, damaging an additional three vehicles nearby. In total, the crash caused $31,500, the report shows.
The intersection temporarily operated as a three-way stop while crews worked to assess and repair the damaged signals. Stop signs were installed to help with the transition.
The eastbound driver was issued two citations for failing to yield right of way and driving without a valid license.
Nobody was injured in the crash.
