PHOENIX N.Y. — New York State Police arrested Kimberlee Pontello, 37, of Liverpool, NY, early Tuesday morning on two outstanding warrants for felony grand larceny, following a traffic stop in the village of Phoenix.
Around 3:11 a.m., a Trooper from State Police Fulton (Troop D) observed a vehicle committing traffic violations on State Street and initiated a stop on Davis Street. During the stop, the driver, later identified as Pontello, provided a false name. Further investigation revealed her true identity, leading to her arrest for Criminal Impersonation in the Second Degree, a misdemeanor.
Pontello was issued an appearance ticket for Phoenix Village Court before being transferred to State Police Homer for processing on two Class E felony warrants related to previous thefts.
According to investigators, Pontello allegedly stole merchandise from Marshalls in Cortlandville on two separate occasions. On April 25, she reportedly took 73 items valued at over $1,100. On May 10, she allegedly stole 55 items worth more than $1,300. In both incidents, she bypassed all points of sale without paying.
Pontello was processed at SP Homer and transported to the Cortland County Jail for centralized arraignment.
