San Juan Capistrano duo charged in Pasadena robbery, kidnapping and shooting of LA man – Orange County Register

Two San Juan Capistrano residents have been arrested and charged for their suspected roles in the April 25 robbery, kidnapping and attempted murder of a Los Angeles man in Pasadena.

The 27-year-old victim was lured to Pasadena under false pretenses then got robbed at gunpoint of jewelry and other valuables, forced to withdraw money from several ATMs, then shot when he tried to escape and ran, Pasadena police said in a Tuesday statement.

However, police didn’t reveal how the victim met the suspects and what ruse they used to draw him to the city.

Marissa Monique Sanchez, 25, pleaded not guilty on Monday, July 21, to second-degree robbery while Roman Isael Salgado, 23, pleaded not guilty to attempted murder, kidnapping to commit another crime and second-degree robbery when they appeared at Pasadena Superior Court, according to court records.

Both are scheduled to return to court Aug. 20.

Officers on April 25 went to a call of a man shot near the 100 block of East Holly Street shortly before 10 p.m. and found the victim. He underwent surgery at a hospital and survived.

Investigators declined to say how they identified the suspects, who were arrested July 16 in Mission Viejo. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed charges against the two on July 18.

Booking records show Sanchez was being held in lieu of $50,000 bail at the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood while Salgado remains in custody at the North County Correctional Facility in Castaic. His bail is $1 million.

Police asked anyone with information about the case to call them at 626-744-4241. Anonymous tisopters can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or go to lacrimestoppers.org
