KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – A drug deal gone wrong has led to several charges connected to Armed robbery that have been filed against a Warrensburg man.
Johnson County, Missouri, Circuit Court records filed on Monday, July 21, indicate that Jordan D. Graves, 20, of Warrensburg, has been charged in connection with the case.
A probable cause statement filed by the Warrensburg Police Department revealed that on Saturday, law enforcement officials were called to the 500 block of King St. with reports of an Armed robbery.
When first responders arrived, they said they found a victim who said they arranged to purchase an e-bike from the suspect. However, when they got to the meet-up location, the victim was ordered by the suspects to get in their car to finish the transaction.
Once inside the vehicle, the suspect allegedly took the victim’s wallet that contained $200-$300 cash, their ID and their debit cards at gunpoint. Surveillance footage revealed the suspect vehicle to be a silver Honda Accord with Missouri plates.
Investigators revealed that through the surveillance footage, they were able to identify the suspect as Graves because of an incident earlier that week. They began to set up surveillance at Graves’ apartment complex.
On Saturday, law enforcement officials noted that a search warrant was granted for Graves’ apartment. As it was executed, several firearms were found and seized. Graves was taken into custody as a result.
During an interview with investigators, they said Graves claimed the incident had actually been a drug deal gone bad and that the victim was his dealer. The victim confirmed their earlier story to only be partly true and corroborated they had been in contact with Graves for a drug deal; however, none of the facts about the actual robbery changed.
As a result, Graves has been charged with robbery, armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon and resisting arrest. If convicted, he could be sentenced to spend life in prison.
As of Tuesday evening, Graves remains behind bars on a $100,150 bond. A bond reduction hearing has been set for 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23.
